Volunteering

We work with community organisations, and resident groups on various projects, including gardening, environmental and projects for young people.

We support four food aid organisations that are based in Lewisham council managed estates:

They provide weekly food and other necessities for those facing financial difficulties. They accomplish this by organising regular food collection days for residents and by delivering food packages to those unable to attend.

These food organisations are always in need of volunteers. Your support, even if it’s only for a couple of hours, can make a difference. Volunteer tasks include transporting surplus food and making deliveries, sorting surplus food on-site, and helping members during shopping days. A regular car or cargo bike is sufficient for deliveries, no need for a van. Everyone has a role to play, and we value your input.

If you’re interested in volunteering but can’t commit to supporting the food stores, either CommunityRelations@lewisham.gov.uk (0800 028 2028) or fill out the form below. We’ll work together to identify your interests and any training necessary.
