Special educational needs and disability strategy 2016–19
Our Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) partnership strategy sets out our vision and priorities for improving life outcomes for children and young people with SEND and that of their families.
This strategy forms an integral part of the Lewisham Children and Young People’s Plan for 2015–18.
The partnerships vision is underpinned by three key priority areas for change:
-
Children and young people (0–25 years) with SEND and their families are informed and empowered to be more resilient and independent within their communities.
-
Children and young people with SEND who have been identified as requiring additional support across health, social care and education receive the right support at the right time so that they can become as independent as possible.
-
Children and young people with SEND have the opportunity to be educated within Lewisham’s education provision and are given the right support to enable them to achieve their full potential.
