In July 2018, the Council launched the first comprehensive review of Lewisham’s local democracy in sixteen years, led by a Working Group of eight councillors.
About the review
In his election manifesto, Mayor Damien Egan promised to launch a review that would make Lewisham Council ‘even more democratic, open and transparent’.

The Local Democracy Review Working Group collected evidence from the review into a final report, which identified 57 recommendations for change.
Delivering the recommendations
In spring 2019, the 57 recommendations made by the Local Democracy Review were agreed by the Mayor and all councillors.
