Local Democracy Review
In July 2018, the Council launched the first comprehensive review of Lewisham’s local democracy in sixteen years, led by a Working Group of eight councillors.
In his election manifesto, Mayor Damien Egan promised to launch a review that would make Lewisham Council ‘even more democratic, open and transparent’.
The Local Democracy Review Working Group collected evidence from the review into a final report, which identified 57 recommendations for change.
In spring 2019, the 57 recommendations made by the Local Democracy Review were agreed by the Mayor and all councillors.
