Local and Mayoral Elections 2022
When are these elections?
The election of 54 ward councillors and the mayor of Lewisham will take place on Thursday 5 May 2022. The Notice of Election, published on 21 March 2022, marks the official start of the election period. All the official election notices can be found at the bottom of this page.
Who is eligible to vote in these elections?
All people on the electoral register are eligible to vote in these elections, except for British citizens living overseas. If you are not yet registered to vote, you can do so online.
Poll cards will be sent from 21 March to all voters.

Registration deadline
The last date to register to vote in this election is midnight on 14 April 2022.
Postal vote deadline
The last date to submit a postal vote application is 5pm on 19 April 2022.
Proxy vote deadline
The last date to submit a proxy vote application is 5pm on 26 April 2022.
Mayoral candidate address booklet
In mayoral elections the Returning Officer is required to compile a candidate address booklet. All candidates will be asked if they wish to provide a statement. The booklet will be sent to all voters in the post. We shall also publish it on this page on or around 14 April 2022.

Voting and COVID-19
In polling stations we will apply the latest government guidelines at the time of the election which may include the wearing of masks, use of voting screens, and limits on number of voters inside the station at any one time. Your poll card will provide more information. In addition, we are encouraging voters to register to vote by post.
