Pilates for the mature including elements of bone care - tester

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasises proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. The focus of this class is on mature adults who would like to improve their muscular strength and bone care under a supervision of an experienced tutor. In this tester session you will gain insight into this type of exercises and be able to try it out.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course which will include the following: demonstration, assessment of progress, observation, discussion / question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
Tutor will observe the learners and correct their poses, offer guidance and feedback, self-assessment will be used, assessment of progress, questions and answers, peer feedback, discussions, etc.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
This will be discussed with the course tutor at the first class and will vary depending on the level of class and the topics to be covered.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
The learners will need a yoga mat. There are yoga mats available at the centre, however learners can bring their own should they wish to. The tutor may indicate where leareners can buy equipment if they desire to. Please do not purchase anything before your first session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a course cancelled / altered at a short notice.
