What prior knowledge, experience and qualifications will I need?
No prior knowledge or experience is required to enrol on this course.

Learning Goals:
Learn different techniques for oil painting. Increase your confidence in using oil paint. Produce a minimum of two basic compositions. Identify and achieve a personal goal as discussed with your tutor.

What teaching methods will the tutor use?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course which will include the following: Demonstration - both group and individual, one to one tuition, group work, assessment of progress, observation, discussion/question and answer sessions.

What assessment methods will the tutor use?
The course tutor will use a range of methods to assess progress on the course. These may include: Observation, completion of Individual Learning Plan which will be updated regularly, evaluation of work samples, question and answer sessions.

Will extra work be required outside the class times?
This will be discussed with the course tutor at the first class and will vary depending on the level of class and the topics to be covered.

What materials will I need for the course and how much will they cost?
You may be asked to provide additional materials / tools etc. for your course. This will be discussed with the course tutor and may not be covered in the course fee. Please do not purchase anything before your first session unless requested to do so. No liability can be accepted for expenses incurred for a course cancelled / altered at short notice.

What do I need to bring to the first class?
This is a practical subject, please wear suitable clothing. Materials will be provided for you each week but if learners wish to bring their own materials they are welcome to.

Options when finished
The department offers a wide variety of Art, Pottery and Performing Arts courses. Information about these courses is available through the tutor, the Curriculum Leader or the ALL programme.

NB: ALL cannot be held responsible for any items including work, materials, tools etc. left by the learner in our workrooms. All learners are expected to remove items during the holiday periods, at the end of the course and when disposal deadlines are set by the tutor.
